YOGURT TATLISI (Yoghurt Syrup Cake)
- 250 grams of yoghurt
- 200 grams sugar
- 180 grams semolina
- 80 grams flour
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 600 grams sugar
- 500 grams water
1- Mix yoghurt and sugar thoroughly.
2- Add egg and mix through.
3- Add semolina, sifted flour, bicarbonate soda and cinnamon and beat until well
4- Pour mixture into a greased oblong dish, 25 x 30 cm, and bake in a medium hot,
preheated oven for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
5- While cake is baking, prepare syrup. Place ingredients in saucepan and boil.
6- Simmer for 5 minutes.
7- Pour hot syrup over warm cake. Allow to cool and absorb most of the syrup.
8- Cut cake into small squares or diamond shapes before serving.
