(Anas Platyrhynchos - Yesilbas)

They are the ancestors of domestic ducks. The mallard drakes live in lakes, wetlands and marshy places. They hide their nests inside the rushes.
Mallard drakes feed on water plants and small worms in the water. The males are approximately 58 cms long with a green head and easily distinguished from the brown headed females.
