PERISSIA HOTEL CAPPADOCIA
Over millions of years the ash laid down by these two-volcanic furnaces gradually formed a layer of soft tuft. This in turn was patched over in places with a thin layer of basalt lava. This basalt cracked and then split under weathering, allowing rain water to seep down through the fissures and slowly erode the underlying tuft. We call them "Fairy Chimneys".
