In 1984, the Sevda-Cenap And Music Foundation also undertook the responsibility of organizing the International Ankara Music Festival. The primary motives that led the Foundation to such an undertaking were:

a) That Ankara was not only the political capital of the country, but also the cultural capital of the modern secular Turkish Republic where the processes of westernization began and have been developing - (The first conservatory, symphonic orchestra, opera, ballet and theater were established in Ankara. All the first generation composers, musicians, ballet dancers, actors, etc.. were trained in Ankara),

b) That Ankara, had the best connaisseur audience in the country and

c) That Ankara deserved to be fisted among the cultural centres of the World.

The International Ankara Music Festival takes place annually every April. It receives contributions from the Government, the Municipality and foreign Cultural Centres based in Ankara. The programme is set up by an ad hoc committee, which is comprised of some members of the Board of Trustees, the Consultative Committee and also includes some representatives of major contributors. It comprises of symphonic and chamber music concerts, classic and modern ballet and folk dance performances.

The development of the International Ankara Music Festival has been as planned: In 1993 the Festival became a member of the European Festival Association, Geneva and; In 1994 the Festival was placed under the High Patronage of H.E. Suleyman Demirel, the President of the Republic of Turkey.
