The Agora which is just behind the theater stage section is the main Agora.
There were two agoras of the city. The most popular commercial agora was this one. It occupied an 8000 square meter area, in square shape.
The usual architectural design of Ionian agoras, such as a stoa around the central open area, with shops surrounding and a latrine with fountains in one side was the characteristic feature of this agora. There was a traditional temple in the middle of the agora, dedicated to the city goddess Tyche at one stage.
Other than the usual commercial activities of the local and travelling merchants, they used to buy and sell a large number of slaves in this agora.
