VISAS for MALTA


APPLICATION FOR VISA FOR ENTRY INTO MALTA (effective 1st January, 1996)

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Applicants must complete the proper Visa Application Form in triplicate

2) The following documents must be submitted along with the Visa Application Form:

Transit visa:US$30.00
Entry visa:US$40.00
4) Money orders should be made to the order of The Embassy of Malta. Personal checks are not acceptable.

5) Transit Visa: along with the above requirements, applicants must show a confirmed flight/boat trip, leaving Malta on the same day applicant arrives into Malta in transit, but in no case more than 24 hours after arrival in Malta.

6) A mininum of 15 days is required for processing.

7) All passports will be returned to the applicants via registered mail. Should applicants need us to return their passports promptly, applicants must either enclose an additional money order for $15 or may send us an airway bill, prepaid with their account number and a self-addressed envelope of a delivery agent such as Federal Express.

8) For the purpose of this application process a passort is a travel document issued by the competent authority of a Government of a country, recognised by Malta, and includes a photgraph and other details establishing the identity and nationality of the person to whom it refers to the satisfaction of the Principal Consular Officer.

9) In the case of a national passport or other acceptable travel document held by an applicant in which are included the particulars of their spouse or minor child under 16 years of age, only one visa will be required and one fee charged.. Where, occaissionally, children over 16 years of age are included in a parent.s passport, a separate visa would be needed and a separate fee levied for each such child.

10) The Embassy or the Consulates of Malta are not responsible for any mishandling of the mail by the post office or any other delivery service.

11) All fees payable are non-refundable, even in case of visa refusal.

12) All regulations and costs are subject to change without notice.

VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS

The Commissioner of Police notifies that the issue of visas will be regulated as follows:

Citizens of the countries mentioned hereunder do not require visa to enter Malta:

A. Commonwealth Countries

Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Cyprus, Dominica, Figi, The Gambia, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Western Samoa, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

B. U.K. Dependencies (except holders of British Dependent territories and British National Overseas Passports)

Anguilla, Bermuda, British Antartic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Montserrat, Pitcairn, Henderson Ducie and Oene Island, St. Helena, St. Helena Dependencies, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, Tristan Da Cunha and Turks and Caicos Islands.

C. Council of Europe Members

VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR MALTESE NATIONALS

Maltese nationals do not require visa to enter the following countries:

A. Commonwealth Countries

NOTE:
1. Maltese nationals visiting the following countries will be given a visa on arrival:- Estonia, U.A.E., Syria, Albania.
2. No visa is required for Maltese nationals travelling to Lithuania if they have a valid visa for Estonia or Latvia.
3. Peru - visa is only required by businessmen, students and missionaries.


Citizens of countries not mentioned above and citizens of UK Dependencies holding BDTC and/or BN (O) need to apply for a visa - entry or transit - at Maltese Embassies or Consulates before proceeding to Malta. Where no Embassy or Consulate is available, applicants are to submit a written request to:

Such requests should invariably contain the following particulars:

Upon receipt of a positive telex or fax from the Immigration Police, the Consul is to endorse the said reply and hand it to the applicant. Applicant id to present the endorsed positive reply upon arrival at the Malta International Airport in order that the necessary visa may be issued.
