They can be compared easily to Pompei houses with their beauty, size and well preserved characteristics. They still keep their unique Hellenistic styles.
The doors were two winged and with marble threshold. Inner decorations of the houses were always simple and elegant. The main room was directed to south and be separated from the courtyard by a corridor with columns in the front. The windows and doors of the rooms were open to the courtyard in the middle of the house. Most of the houses in the city center were two storey. They were usually made up of stone and rubble. They used to carry water to the houses via aquaducts from the hills outside the city peripherals.
