ISA BEY MOSQUE (Ephesus)
This mosque was built in 1375 by the rulers of the western Anatolian principality of Seljuks.
Isa Bey Mosque shows the most elegant architectural features of late Seljuk civilization. The mosque was located on the Ayasuluk hill between the St.John church and the Artemis temple. It is one of the oldest examples of Turkish style mosques with a courtyard in the front and columns inside. The ceramic tiles on the southern dome and the plant figured carvings on the walls are very stylish and unique.
The monumental main gate on the west side represents the distinguished Seljuk architecture with great pride.
